    The Ad Rodeo Association Board will be holding their annual board member turnover meeting on Wednesday, August 14th.

    For anyone who is interested in joining as a board member or committee member, this is your opportunity to come and ask questions about the various roles and get nominated! There are several open positions this year, and we encourage everyone to get involved with the advertising and marketing community!

    Time: 5:30pm – 6:30pm (please arrive on time)
    Following the announcement of the new board, the old and new board will have their first transition meeting.

    Our friends at Taxi are organizing the first annual interagency slo-pitch tournament, taking place Saturday, September 14 at Glenmore Park.

    This, of all days, might be the one day this year where we stop being the self-important pretentious super-hipster borderline-alcoholic art types that people always assume we are, and just be the borderline-alcoholic last-picked awkward never-will-be athletes that we actually are. Come on, you ad guys and gals - it's for charity. So swing a bat. And if you can't swing a bat, throw a ball. If you can't throw a ball, the least you can do is sit in the beer tent and raise a pint, right? Right. Do it for the kids.

    All donations will go to Brown Bagging it for Calgary's Kids.

  • Evans Hunt launches the new Calgary Zoo website

    Evans Hunt is very proud to have worked with the Calgary Zoo on their new site. It's just launched (www.calgaryzoo.com) and has a few finishes left, but wow. What a project.

    It started out as very ambitious: build a site that redefines where zoo sites are at today, and help people connect with conservation stories (spoiler alert: people weren't seeking out this type of content on their own).

    Big bold images. Fun and punchy copy. Easy to manage content management system. Responsive site build to serve multiple screen sizes. Massive, content-focused. Sexy stuff.

    Then, the floods. We've all talked about a client in crises metaphorically, but this was the real deal.

    And despite a very real critical situation and massive staff layoffs in every department, the team at the Calgary Zoo managed to keep going. Huge, huge efforts on their part, during a time when they were already working crazy hours dealing with the repercussions of the flood.

    Hate parking downtown? Well, this might make it a bit less painful.

    Working for the Calgary Downtown Association, the Evans Hunt Group launched a mobile-friendly site that'll make finding parking in downtown Calgary easy.

    The parking.downtowncalgary.com site pulls in live data from Calgary Parking to show the number of available spots in their lots and estimated street parking availability. The site also pin-points third-party lots.

    The tool finds parking near your current location, or helps you find parking at an address you're going to.

    And hey - parking downtown on evenings and weekends is easy, so get your butt downtown and have some fun.

    #drygoodsyyc is a marketing and advertising collective donating services and media to businesses affected by the flood in Calgary.

    From their website, drygoods.ca:

    The failure rate of small businesses following a disaster is 40-80%. That's mind-blowing. Owners face lost revenue, building repair costs and the price of lost inventory. Few have the resources to cover both the revenue shortfall and the costs to rebuild.
