  • ACAD staff talk to MacLeans on the shift from film to TV.

    May 11th, 2012 / Comments (0)

Interesting article on the shift from film to TV; and the emergence of direct to Internet productions.

Daniel Doz and Adam Tindale weigh in on the way students are looking at small screens compared to before.

    Doz:

With the glamorization of the film milieu since the 1930s,” says Daniel Doz, president of the Alberta College of Art and Design, “students have often idealized working in film rather than TV.

    Tindale:

[...]in the future there will be no difference between television and screens.

The complete article over at MacLeans.

  • Interview with Kash Sree.

    May 10th, 2012 / Comments (0)

Fast Company interviews Kash Sree. The creative director on campaigns like Nike Play and Vaseline.

Asked if he thought Mad Men was an accurate portrayal of the advertising industry Sree answered:

It’s actually surprisingly accurate. Apart from the going out and socializing with people, which I’m terrible at. The agency politics is still very true, though some of the sexism has changed, thank God, and the drinking on the job, though less so. I don’t think the business has changed that much at all.

  • 5 Alberta Agency People to Follow on Twitter

    May 8th, 2012 / Comments (0)

We steal posts. We admit it.

Today we added the first 5 people to follow.

    • Brian Allen - Works for Trigger. Apparently comes from a serious creative lineage.
    • Heleena Webber - From ZGM. She's a great source of information on social media.
    • Scott King - Freelance planner. Finds tech and rants on email etiquette.
    • Dax Justin - Designer. Always has the scoop on what's happening in digital design.
    • Mark Zsabo - Karo. Great insights on design thinking.

Who do you follow? We're looking to build these lists up. Post your favourite locals in the comments.
